It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!!

I'm having some issues with the pictures on this one, and I'm too sick to worry about it right now...so I'll come back later for edting.  Oh, and I added pictures to the REAL Salt Lake post.

So, before I got the flu on Sunday, it was actually a really fun weekend!  On Friday (in preparation for our pumpkin carving shindig on Saturday),  Shannon, Janey, Calin, Jeff, and I baked a few different kind of cookies.  We made the typical pumpkin-chocolate chip and Halloween shaped sugar cookies...and the experimental candy corn sugar cookies.  They all turned out pretty good.  

Of course, we couldn't settle for the mundane cookie making evening without a little spice...thus, a frosting fight had to be had.  I somehow avoided getting caught in the middle of it, and end

ed up being the only one not covered in frosting.  Even though all five of us were wearing aprons, frosting was still found smeared all over almost everyone's clothes...good times!

arving happened on Saturday night.  It began with Shannon, Janey, and I going to pick out some pumpkins.  Then all of us (Shannon, Janey, Melinda, Calin, Jeff, and me) watched "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" before we put our own pumpkins under the knife.  

Shannon and Janey went for a creative spin on a typical Halloween character: Ghost.  They did a very nice job of inverted carving.  They also accessorized their pumpkin with a few lovely bats.

Melinda and Calin went for a Picaso-like style with their pumpkin and didn't leave any empty spaces on their workspace.  Besides thpumpkin face, they also included an eye, flames, goo, and other features.

Jeff and I used the theme of Jeff's "brilliant idea!"  That is, we went off a Harry Potter theme and carved dueling wizards on our pumpkin (which has the coolest stem, by the way).  I did the preliminary drawing, and Jeff took care of the carving.  I think it turned out a lot better than we thought it would.

After carving pumpkins, we watched one of the most ridiculous movies of all time, Labyrinth.  I felt my brain cells dying as we watched.  Jeff came away convinced he needed to be David
